This work represents for me, exclusion.  The door, for me, was always closed because I was not allowed to associate with the high school students who frequented there.  On the outside looking in, I knew I was missing the fun and could hear the constant laughter of the lucky ones.  Soda fountains as meeting places are now obsolete Norman Rockwell-type institutions that I wish could be restored!
